Noodle Head

Casting Comparison: 

The U.S. version of the Noodle Head has a clear windshield, an exposed metal engine and exhaust pipes in the rear, an opening cover in the front that reveals head lights and the interior was available only in white in which the dashboard and steering wheel are molded.

The Hong Kong version has a blue tinted windshield, an exposed metal engine and exhaust pipes in the rear, an opening cover in the front that reveals head lights and the interior was available in brown or white in which the dashboard and steering wheel are molded.

Casting Details:   

This casting was only produced in the U.S. and has clear windows, an opening hood, a removable black plastic rear spoiler and the interior was available mostly in white in which the dashboard and steering wheel are molded. An adhesive sticker sheet was included which consisted of stripes with blue stars on a white background to be placed in pairs on the hood, roof and trunk. These stripes came in two styles, one where the stars are larger and one where the stars are smaller. There is no premium for either style however a complete unused sticker sheet can be quite expensive. There is a variation of this casting only found in red which does have a black interior. It is believed that this variation is a prototype or preproduction casting and has not been found in a blister pack. The rear spoiler of the Olds 442 is easily removed and it too can be expensive.

Casting Details: 

This casting was only produced in Hong Kong and has a blue tinted canopy, an exposed metal rocket mounted to the rear, two black plastic opening intake covers which are operated by pulling or pushing the black exhaust pipes in the rear and the interior was available in assorted colors in which the dashboard and steering wheel are molded.  It is very common to find the rocket tarnished which does not detract from value.

Casting Details: 

Part of the Heavyweights series, this casting was only produced in Hong  Kong and has a flip-up body hinged at the rear to the chassis. The roll cage and body prop are made of black plastic and are independent of each other and an orange air scoop is mounted in-between the two. Clear stickers with the words “S’COOL BUS” were pre-applied at the factory to both sides. A self adhesive sticker sheet was included and consisted of black stripes that are placed along the bottom of both sides and three stickers to be placed on the hood, one a circle with the words “S’COOL BUS” and two rectangular stickers with the words “854 C.I.”

Part of the Heavyweights series, this casting was only produced in Hong Kong and has a blue tinted wrap-around windshield, a yellow plastic bucket mounted to the rear with a yellow scooper attached by two white plastic arms on either side of the bucket.

This casting was only produced in Hong Kong and has a blue tinted canopy, twin exposed metal engines and the interior was available mostly in black in which the dashboard and steering wheel are molded. Some castings can be found with a white interior and are considered rare. A premium is added to value. However, yellow is always found with a white interior and no premium is added to value.

Casting Comparison: 

While this casting was produced in both the U.S. and Hong Kong, there are no major differences between the two other then those made in Hong Kong have blue tinted windows while the U. S. have clear.

Casting Essentials: 

Both the U.S. and Hong Kong versions are a flip-up body hinged at the rear to the chassis. The roll cage and body prop are made of black plastic and are independent of each other. A self adhesive sticker sheet was included and consisted of red flames for the hood, roof and rear deck and side stickers with the Hot Wheels logo, a Snake and “Don Prudhomme.” The right side had the sticker pre-applied at the factory so that it could be seen through the blister.

Casting Details: 

This casting was only produced in the U.S. and has a an exposed metal engine and exhaust pipes, a black plastic wheelie bar with small clear wheels on the back, large mag wheels without a redline on the rear and the front wheels were made of either clear plastic or black plastic. A self adhesive sticker sheet was included and consisted of one square sticker with “DON PRUDHOMME” and “THE SNAKE I” for the cockpit and another with the Hot Wheels logo and “DON PRUDHOMME” and “THE SNAKE I” that wraps around the nose.

This and the Mongoose Rail Dragster were only sold together in the Mongoose and Snake Dragster Pak and neither was sold individually.

Casting Details: 

Part of the Heavyweights series, this casting was only produced in Hong Kong and has a blue tinted wrap-around windshield, a white plastic bed with a red plastic extendable arm and a basket attached to the end. The entire extendable arm swivels 360 degrees and bends in three places making it very maneuverable.  Original baskets have a diamond pattern imprinted on the bottom where as reproductions are smooth.

This casting was only produced in Hong Kong and has two exposed metal engines with exhaust pipes, the rear is fashioned to resemble a mailbox and the interior was only available in white in which the dashboard and steering wheel are molded. An adhesive sticker sheet was included which consisted of two stickers in red, white and blue with the words “U.S. MAIL” for the sides of the mailbox, a sticker with gauges for the rear of the engine closest to the seat, a small red, white and blue sticker printed with “AIR MAIL” for the rear fuel cell and a red white and blue sticker with the words “SPECIAL DELIVERY” for the back of the mailbox.

This casting was only produced in Hong Kong and has an exposed metal engine with exhaust pipes, a lift up canopy door with no window and the interior was available only in black in which the dashboard, steering wheel and parachute are molded. An adhesive sticker sheet was included which consisted of two black circles with a yellow number “7” for the sides and a tapered black stripe with a yellow number “7” for the nose. The interior is easily removed.

This casting was only produced in Hong Kong and has blue tinted windows and roof, a matte black painted grille, an opening hood with injectors that stick out from the center of the hood, a white circle printed with a number ranging from 1 through 9 on the doors and the interior was available mostly in black in which the dashboard and steering wheel are molded. Some castings can be found with a white interior. A premium is added to value for white interior castings. Both blue and red with a white interior are quite difficult to find and a premium is added to value. A water slide decal sheet was included which consisted of sponsor logos.

Casting Details: 

Part of the Heavyweights series, this casting was only produced in Hong Kong and has a blue tinted wrap-around windshield, a white plastic trailer with blue tinted windows that connects to the cab by a swivel and the interior was available in assorted colors in which the dashboard and steering wheel are molded. The trailer has a light blue door that opens and is molded as part of the floor of the trailer. There were several stickers pre-applied at the factory that consist of a blue stripe with yellow stars across the top of the trailer, and a yellow and white sticker with a red Hot Wheels logo and the words “RACING TEAM” on each side of the trailer.

Part of the Heavyweights series, this casting was only produced in Hong Kong and has a blue tinted wrap-around windshield, an orange plastic dumper mounted to the rear with a black plastic movable scoop attached to the back of the dumper. A clear label that is pre-applied at the factory on both sides of the dumper has the words “DEPT. OF SANITATION” printed on it.
